The essays on this blog explore personal experiences and offer opinions based on those experiences, but do not reflect advice for others or suggestions on what anyone else should do or be like. Feel free to ask me questions about myself or yourself, but understand that I have no expertise on either. This material is intended for mature readers.
The one thing I’ve done consistently throughout my adult life is write and write and write. I’ve written screenplays, short stories, novels, and essays. I had a blog for a few years about working in the makeup business, which was a foreign world to me, because I was raised in a gendered landscape as a cis/het man. This is more or less how I continue to identify, though I believe I am probably significantly more fluid than I used to be, than others probably see me, but I’m aware of privilege, patriarchy, alienation, othering and passing.
I have a degree in Media Arts from Chico State University (CA). Although I have a background in screenwriting, I’m presently focused on long form fiction. In the past, I’ve worked as a photographer, makeup artist, radio producer, ringside MMA camera operator, script reader, video producer, postal worker, and occasionally as a political activist. I have not published any fiction yet, and I am currently seeking publication and literary representation for several projects across various genres.
